Three International Success Stories
Hee Jin Choi
English Plus programme
Hee Jin Choi came to us from Sungkyul University in Anyang near Seoul in South Korea. She studied on our English Plus programme for 16 weeks, choosing Childcare as her Plus subject, and for six hours per weeks joined lessons with students on our FdA Early Years Services.
Her lecturer, Helen Kettley said “Hee Jin gave a presentation about Early Years Education in South Korea to the class and she did really well talking in front of 15 other students. They both understood and engaged with the information she was sharing”.
Hee Jin did extremely well and we hope that we will have other Sungkyul students who may also wish to study on an English Plus Childcare programme.
Hang Li
University First Access to Business programme
One of our International students from China, Hang Li, achieved 45 distinctions on his CAVA (Cambridge Access Validating Agency) Access to Higher Education Business Diploma. As a result he was nominated for the 2016 Regional Keith Fletcher CAVA Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement, and he won it.
Here he is giving his acceptance speech at the Award Ceremony in Cambridge on 28 November 2016.
Hang Li gained a place at CASS Business School – City (part of the University of London) and is now in his first year studying Banking and International Finance.
Juanita Barreto Monje
University of London programme
Juanita Barreto Monje is from Colombia and came to Bournemouth to study on the prestigious and challenging University of London programme. She said “The International Foundation Programme that I took in The Bournemouth and Poole College helped me a lot. Firstly because I am studying International Relations and Anthropology, and part of the course plus social psychology and economics has helped me to have a strong theoretical background. Secondly, as an international student I found out that the academic system is very different to Colombia.”
Juanita is currently studying in St. Andrews University in Scotland, reading the undergraduate programme of MA International Relations and Anthropology.
